I wasn't sure of the forum where this post belongs, but this was a best-guess. Here's my dilemma:
I want to record live as I am encoding an Mpeg1 - such that it is ready for delivery more or less at the end of the session. I'm guessing send a vid signal to ? then on to a Mac (laptop preferably, tower if that's what I need) which will ideally crunch numbers on-the-fly and leave me with an MPeg1. I have compostite, component, HDMI and S-Video outputs to work with.
Can a capture card do this in realtime?
On top of that... is it possible to simultaneously come up with other formats as well?
Both boxes are relatively simple to use and are under 10k, the phrase "within reason" means different things to different people. Both companies offer less expensive options (cards) as well as high end solutions that will output multiple formats in real time. The right choice depends on the specific needs of the buyer.
