To make a Blu-ray, is it possible to import an Avid DNxHD 145 file with a QT wrapper into Encore 6? If it's a short video, will Encore burn it onto a standard ruby-laser DVD?

Everyone loves to skip the encoding step!

You can import DNxHD into Adobe Media Encoder and encode for Blu-ray using the H.264 (MPEG-4) for Blu-ray preset. Then import the picture and sound encodes into Encore.

Encore will transcode to MPEG-2 for DVD when you build the Blu-ray project.

Many thanks.

Is it possible to avoid the double-transcoding--first to H.264 and then to mpeg2?

If you are also making a DVD, then encode an MPEG-2 file in AME for the DVD. You can use the same Dolby .ac3 for both the Blu-ray and DVD.
