Make a High Quality DVD from HD footage for festivals NEED ADVICE ASAP!

hey all

hoping you can solve this within 24 hours as im in a mad rush.

Basically I have a full HD short film (30mins) Made on Premiere pro CS5.5 which has just been excepted into a film festival.

They have asked for a DVD or Blu-Ray of the final film to be show on a cinema screen.

Unfortunately I dont have a blu-ray burner so that is out of the question.

Now iv created the normal DVD from my footage using Encore cs5.1 and you can easily tell there is some quality loss as you would expect.. and thats just watching it on my TV, so you can imagine how bad it will be when blown up on a Cinema screen.

Now MY QUESTION IS THIS:
How can i create a High Quality DVD.. what i mean by this is a DVD like the ones you buy from any shop (i.e Inception DVD)..

They dont seem to lose any quality when shrunk down to a normal DVD.. what am i missing here?

Please help asap!

Thanks guys and gals!

X

The DVD you buy are done by seasoned professionals with very expensive equipment so you wont match their work.

You'll need to google some tutorials and read the Encore manual unfortunately. There's just way too much to cover in your question.

You will first need to down convert your HD to 720x480 16x9 anamorphic. From here you can encode with Media Encoder. Make sure you keep your bitrates under 8 mb/s and use AC3 audio

other solution:

go to the next bestbuy-market (or any friend), get a damned BD-burner, some good medias and start creating your first BD using encore.

they are no more expensive and it´s the ONLY way to go, if you would like to create nice prestigne HD-pictures on optical discs.

forget about DVD.

cheers

Set up a transcoding preset in Encore and make sure the Use Maximum Render Quality check box is checked. If you're not using hardware MPE then expect the transcoding to take a long time.

Alternatively, export your Blu-ray project folder from Encore. Burn the BDMV + whatever else gets exported to a DVD. Use IMGBurn to do this, it will create a disc that will be on a DVD disc, but when inserted into a Blu-ray player, the footage will be HD.

UDF 2.50 allows for this and most Blu-ray players are compatible with this too.

...just an idea since you're in a pinch

Adobe CS4 Master Suite
Vista Ultimate 64 SP1
Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.60GHz
12 GB DDR3 RAM
NVidia Quadro FX 3700
Matrox RT.X2 LE Capture Card
4 TB RAID 5
