We have an upcoming screening for a film festival and their preferred exhibition format is blu-ray. We've screened HDCAM, DigiBeta, Beta, etc in the past, but never blu-ray. My questions is this: will it make a difference if I burn it at home using Encore vs using a professional post house, which I'm sure will charge a pretty penny for the service? I've burned the blu-ray and tested it on my home theater. It looks and sounds amazing! I'm just wondering if I get an added benefit by using a post house?
It all depends on what you consider amazing? Depending on who you go to, they will most likely be using a much better encoder backed by a seasoned staffer who knows compression. You can see a difference in the quality done by a GOOD professional compared to Encore's encoder but it all depends if its worth it to you.
I'd say keep it as is if looks good to you already:)
