MPEG import problem
on Apr 10, 2008 at 3:47:44 am

Hello gang!
I'm having a problem importing any MPEG files now. THe bar graph that pops up in the middle of the screen goes across, but then is doubles back and won't import the file!

This started happening when I tried importing an MPEG file made from a DVD "ripped" to an avi and back to an MPEG for Encore. Follow me? lol

FYI: I'm learning that many today would rather work from DVDs and ripping them back to an avi for editing, color corrections, etc. I'm from the old school and would still rather work off the mini DV tapes. They don't even want to supply you with the tapes! I hate it, because I can't even get some of this DVD to avi ripper stuff to work right!

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phil

Here's the fix from the FAQ on Adobe's Encore forum:

Symptom:
Transcoding keeps getting to 99% or so, and reverting back to 75% and continuing Ad Infinitum in a seeming never-ending loop.

Problem:
The registry is corrupted.

Solution:
1. Close all programs.
2. Run Regedit.
3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Adobe -> Common.
4. Delete "Media Cache".
5. Restart computer.
