Black transition = Still?
on May 4, 2006 at 3:55:02 pm

Hey guys,

So here's the thing. I did a big project in Sony Vegas. Now, to export it in Encore, logically, I had to render it out in 704X480. So when I arrived in Encore, everything went great. By the way, my video is in *.wmv. So, blablabla, did my menu. But when I did a preview, I noticed that the video I rendered from Vegas had a problem.

Everytime there was, in the original video, a black transition, instead of playing that black transition in Encore, it made a still picture. Like if nothing in the video moved, and when the black transition was suppose to stop in the original video, the video started playing. I noticed that in the timeline, always in Encore, it did the same thing.

In Vegas, I did my black transitions simply by importing a black *.jpeg picture and everything looked great in the original video.

Why is Encore doing this?

Thx a lot for your time guys.

Really appreciate it.

That sounds a lot like the "optimize stills" issue- Encore 1.5 and earlier can't handle that setting in video files.

I'm not familiar with Vegas, but see if you can export without optimizing stills (in other words, export the AVI so each frame has the still, rather than 1 still and instructions to hold it for x number of frames). If you can get an AVI out that doesn't have this "optimization", Encore 1.5 should be able to handle it. If Vegas can't do that, try transcoding to MPEG from there (if Vegas supports it), and then import the MPEG into Encore.

You could also upgrade to Encore 2.0, which supports "optimized stills" and offers many more and cooler features.

Althought I can't have Adobe Encore 2.0 (my processor doesn't support it, there was an error), I'll check that.

Thx a lot.

Keep you alerted.

Hey Joe,
How's it going? Anyway, couldn't the problem be that he is exporting the video as WMV?

Hi Aanarav,

I don't know that he is...but why would that be a problem? (Encore supports WMV)
