ntsc dvd guidelines

Hi there

I have been ask to produce a ntsc dvd, firstly I came from New Zealand which is all PAL so NTSC is totally new area for me. So was wondering how do you create your graphics? video I understand but the things I don't know is what screen size for nTSC DVD menus and I have been reading you have to convert the 720x540 down to 720x480 to get the right aspect ration is this correct and does anyone know where I could download safe title areas for ntsc graphics.

Thank you in advance.

Cheers Duane Horn

NTSC uses 720x480 at 0.9 pixel aspect ratio. If you have Photoshop CS or CS2, you can work in 0.9 PAR natively. If not, use 720x534 (534 x 0.9 = 480).

Encore can show you safe margins by clicking on the button at the bottom of the menu editor window. Photoshop CS/CS2 also has preset document sizes for NTSC that include safe margin guides at 10% and 20%.
