Can I write 1920x1080 420 files on a disk?

I shot some clips at the HQ 1920x1080 420 setting with my PMW-200, and I'd like to archive them to optical disk with a U-1. When I try to copy them with Content Browser, I get an error message. It works with the 1440x1080 settings. Is it possible to write 1920x1080 420 clips to optical disk?

yes, absolutely, but make sure of the following:

1. you have the XDCAM Drive software installed. current version is 5.02.

2. if you want to mix recording formats, make sure Mixed Recording is enabled in the software control panel

3. if the files have arbitrary names, make sure Free Naming is enabled in the software control panel.

4. you are using the XDCAM HD 422 50 Mb codec with 24 bit audio.

Ian, I think my problem is #4. I'm trying to write 1920x1080 at 420 35Mb. It looks like that isn't possible.

1920 35 Mb is an EX codec. you can put an .mxf wrapper around it and bring it into Avid, Premiere etc but it won't go to the /CLIP folder on an optical disc. 1080 files on optical XDCAM are 1920 x 1080 50 Mb CBR (8 ch, 24 bit audio) or 1440 x 1080 35 Mb VBR (4 ch, 16 bit audio). most NLEs have presets for selecting these. let me know if you need help with a particular editor or workflow.
