Audio problem with 2 machine editing
on Feb 20, 2014 at 11:53:56 am

Hi all,

I have two XDCam machines hooked up “the old fashioned way”, that is a PDW-F1600 (recorder) and a PDW-HD1200 (player) with an RM-280 Editing Controller.

The audio is wired via the analogue outputs of the “player”, through an analogue mixer and back into the analogue inputs of the “recorder”.

When I then try to edit Audio (wild sound or music) recorded onto the recorder channel 2 mixed with audio (voiceover) via a mic, mixed through the analogue audio mixer, onto channel 1 of the recorder there is a noticeable “audio jump” at the edit point.

Previous VTR edit setups using the same analogue audio configuration from Betacam through to digital Betacam have never produced this effect.

Is this the D/A A/D conversion? Or is the system not designed to operate this way? Or perhaps it's a problem somewhere with the settings?

Does anyone have a similar problem?
