XDCAM EX Pan speed problem.
on Sep 27, 2012 at 12:52:02 pm

Hi everyone, we have a problem with these 2 cameras ex1 and ex3.
when we pan , tilt or fast moves our cameras take this sample video and i think this is very big problem for broadcast tv streams.
Because this is jumpy. How can i solve this problem?
Shot is : 1920x1080 50i, shutter 1/100.

One of the draw backs to Long GOP compression at low bit rates(25-CBR & 35-VBR) is that it has issues with quick pans. As the bit rate is increased it works just fine. Its the way the compression needs to make decisions as to what to keep. The higher the bit rate the more information it has to restore the image.
If you record to a Nano Flash you control the bit rate and compression type.

I'm not seeing it, although it is early in the morning. Have you tried the shutter at 50th and even with the shutter OFF. I'm not sure what look you want but perfectly smooth is what you'd expect from a handycam.

You might try shoot 25p at 50th, as it will record the entire frame at the exact same time and give you a slight stutter look more like film.

Good Luck

You're right, it's a big disadvantage from the ex1. I have the same problem with my ex1r. I didn't know it was compression (I'm not sure that it is), I always thought it was because of the rolling shutter. My experience: it's less noticeable in interlaced mode.
