We are shooting EX3 footage double system and using a Smartslate. The video from the SxS cards are consistently off by 2 frames. Slate and (Fostex) recorder match.
Today, we were testing a multicam using another Sony camera on triax and tied to CCU's going directly into Avids. Four cameras pointed at the same Smartslate with jammed timecode from the same source the four Avids were getting. Timecode matched on all cameras. The fifth, the line cut, was one frame off due to the use of a frame sync but that was anticipated and dealt with.
But the slate on the set (the video) read two (2) frames behind the Avid source TC after capture - same as the EX3 issue.
I know this has to do with a digital delay somewhere in the chain, but how to offset it?
Has anyone else encountered this? I find almost no mention of it on this or any other forum. Are we missing something?
