Rookie needs advice
on Jul 25, 2011 at 12:48:43 am

New to forum, have access to a Sony Prosumer HD camera for a one time project. Using Windows XP, hope someone can point me in the right direction.

How do I copy files from SXS?
How can I Store the files for long term
How can I burn DVD for family use
Have no software, hopping that I don't have to spend much (if anything)
Is there any forum that better fits my non experience?

Thanks

[beBen Umberger] "How do I copy files from SXS?"

XDCAM ClipBrowser 2.6. Make sure to turn on CRC checking.

Burn to optical disc as data files (Blu-ray for example). LTO Tape. Hard drives (risky IMHO).

You have a family of editors? ;-)
That depends what software you use. You need to downconvert for DVD for example. Does your family use YouTube or iOS devices? What about Blu-ray video?

No NLE? No DVD burning authoring software?
Odd are you're going to need something professional if you're working with SXS cards (XDCAM EX). Maybe Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere Pro.

Newbies are welcome as long as they backup their BPAV folders. If you don't, I bite.
