Sony SxS Pro Memory cards (the blue ones) are good for 100,000 cycles.
Sony SxS-1 Pro Memory cards (the orange ones) are good for 10,000 cycles.

Unless there is visible damage to the electrical connectors even a used card should give you many hours of service.

Jim, how many hours do you need? I've managed surprisingly easily on 2x16gb SxS cards with a spare 8gb. I shoot a lot of footage in documentary making but usually have an opportunity to download either back at base or on location. On a shoot all I need is a MacBook, the EX USB lead and a small USB powered drive. Sure the SxS are crazily expensive but we can't treat them like tape. File downloads and file storage is difficult to get used to but that's the way today.

Yes Jim, I think I read somewhere (here?) that this is possible but we'll have to wait for a working day, tomorrow, for the geniuses to help.

Jim, I've bought 4 or 5 used Sony SxS and SanDisk cards on eBay and they've all been flawless.

I think they've all been different....stores and individuals. After all, it's kind of hard to screw up a solid state piece of memory encased in a metal case! I'm not saying it isn't possible to get a bad card, but maybe I've just been lucky.

If you have access to a laptop with an Express 34 slot, and with the new XDCAM Browser software installed, you can insert an SxS card and XDCAM browser will apparently give you the re-write life of the card.
