Playing out to xdcam from Final cut pro

Hi all!

I hope someone can help me. I work for a television production house and we are currently exporting our shows as MXF files for the broadcaster. They would also like physical copies of the shows, so we need to put the shows onto xdcam discs for them as well. From my understanding (which is not much at this stage  ), there are two methods to do this: Play out to xdcam or export to xdcam. Which is better and how do I go about doing each? I have the xdcam transfer program for final cut which I use to import the clips from the xdcam player.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks!!

Hello, You can EXPORT TO XDCAM via the FILE, EXPORT, SONY XDCAM in Final Cut.

1) Connect XDCAMHD deck or PDWU1 to computer. Insert XDCAM disc. If disc isn;t formatted, format disc. Disc should appear on desktop as untitled. (If you are using a XDCAM deck, you may have to allow PC control via the menu settings on the deck.)
2) Go to final cut pro. Click in timeline to select sequence to export.
3) FIle, Export, SonyXDCAM.
4) Follow directions in dialog box....rendering may occur, and then transfer will occur.
