24P under NTSC Format?
on Dec 11, 2010 at 11:47:14 am

Dear All,

I was just using EX-3 and surprise to see that they put 24P under NTSC format which is, with my little knowledge should be alltogether different from PAL/NTSC.

As I see this should not come under any PAL/NTSC, as 24P is just a film base format where PAL/NTSC is more depend on country specification (With relations to their electrical supply also).

If anyone wants to put any light on this, I will be obliged.

thanks in advance,

Hi Virendra,

Welcome to Creative COW.

The flavour of 24p found in the PMW EX series of cameras is not exactly 24 frames a second, but is in fact 23.976 fps. which is based on NTSC formats. That's why it's found under the NTSC listings in the camera menu.

Hope they should have not much problem.

[virendra khanna] "Hope they should have not much problem."

It shouldn't be a huge problem going from 25p to 23.976. Conforming 29.97 (or 30p) to 23.976 is worse. Good luck with your project.
