Recommended SD cards?
on Nov 21, 2010 at 3:39:43 pm

Being an early user of the EX1 I've not had to buy media for a while now.

I'm currently installing a number of Sony MD10 medical cameras and now need to recommend media. I don't think it'll justify SxS and as I've had success with Kensington adapters in the past wondered what the current wisdom is on what are the most reliable SD cards. I guess we're be talking 16 or 32GB.

I've had issues with seemingly identical Transcend SD cards, some work, some don't.

Thanks for any advice

The Hoodman, MxM and MxR adapters all work just fine. I just got a couple 32GB Transcend SDHC class 10 cards. They work perfectly (so far) and only cost $60 each.

Thanks for all responses. Is anyone out there still using the Kensington 7in1 adapters. These were the original solution I think.

I use the Kensington 7in1 with Transcend and Sandisk Ultra II SDHC cards. No problems with sustained use over the last year. I even accidentally over-cranked with no problems. And with the EX3 firmware upgrade, I can now use the Panasonic SDHC card.

Specifically what Transcend cards did you use Daniel. I've had good and bad, supposedly identical, Transcend 16GB class 6. I've chickened out of buying more but ?maybe the class10 would be more reliable.

Transcend Red Label Class 6 16 GB, purchased 8 months ago. Reliable pre and post the firmware upgrade but I've heard that others have had problems.

e-Films lists Silicone Power SDHC as reliable. I am not familiar with them. Anybody tried them?
