FC doesn't have 1080p

Maybe I never noticed before but FC doesn't have 1080p sequences, why?
I produce xdcam 1080p and although it's says so on the browser item properties, (both files and sequence), but in fact the sequence is 1080i and exporting it as prorez to AE is becoming interlaced (lower). WHY?

Also what is the best way to keep the 16:9 from 1080 to Pal (I'm putting the footage to a new "Pal" sequence reducing, re-framing the clips) but would like to keep the 1.78 and not 1.25 without anamorphic (getting a circular shaped object looking like a rugby ball shape)

EX3, Nikon Adaptimax with various lenses, Acuter Merlin mount, MBP17"2.93GHz, FCS2, Media100, BtcSP, DVcam

[bruno perosa] "Maybe I never noticed before but FC doesn't have 1080p sequences, why?"
Sequence presets do not makes much sense now that you can conform the sequence to the footage.

You have done something wrong somewhere.

Your PAL sequence must be Anamorphic.

Check your codec settings on export. Even if your sequence is not interlaced, the ProRes settings may default to Interlaced and you need to check them on export.

Is FCP interpreting your footage correctly? If so, dropping the first clip into a new sequence can be set in your Preferences to prompt whether you want the sequence to conform to the clip. That can be quite handy.

Hi Clint,
I think that with XDCAM is impossible any miss interpretation.
Field order is always properly flagged.

Have you downloaded the Sony XDCam drivers? There might be a more up-to-date version, but this one is at http://www.sony.ca/promedia/drivers.htm for the Mac. I know when I export it gives me the choice of 1080 30P EX in specific amongst many other codecs.

And likewise, I take a clip and drop it into a new timeline and it always asks if I want to conform the timeline to the very same standards as that first clip, and I always say yes, so I don't have to render anything.
