Were in Menu is Version?
on Apr 30, 2010 at 6:19:21 am

It's 2 AM and I'm a bit slap happy. I want to upgrade the firmware, but I can't find the version in the camera menu. It say's look in the "Other's" and then "Version," but I don't see the version listed in either the camera or media menu.

Did you find it? Reminder, someone posted here that you have to use the USB port that's hidden underneath the little cover beside the "other" USB port. Apparently one is for data transfer and one is for maintenance. I haven't done it myself but it was posted here recently. There's a little philip-head screw attaching the cover. Apologies if you know this already, just trying to be helpful.

Clint:

I was asking how to see which version my camera is currently before I upgrade, so I don't brick my camera. Yes, I do see where I have to take the screw out for the other USB.

In the brief discription, it said to see which version your camera is, go to your menu, & then other, & select "version" to see what current version your camera has installed. I don't see "version" listed in any of the "other" menus.

There is a way of doing this in the menu because I recall that Craig (I think) posted how to do this. It involves pressing two buttons at once and getting up the 'service' section. Sorry I can't remember exactly which buttons, maybe someone else can, Craig will eventually read this and may respond?

The version is in the Maintenance menu. When powered ON, press menu + sel/set + cancel together. Go to the IF (information) menu.

Thanks, ...it sounds like Microsoft came up with that combination...like pressing start to shut down..:) I was looking in the manual and online...got frustrated and came to the cow.

Always go to The Cow when frustrated, it's a rule worth following.

[Daniel Startek] "The version is in the Maintenance menu. When powered ON, press menu + sel/set + cancel together. Go to the IF (information) menu."

This ONLY works if you press the back buttons, and does not work if you press the buttons on top of the camera.

This command reminds me of first trying to eject a CD disk on an apple computer, drag to the TRASH to eject... reeeeally logical hey? Not sure why it is hidden...

No, that ONLY works if you have an EX1. The EX3 buttons are on the left (operator) side!
