Test File?
on Jan 13, 2010 at 7:34:41 pm

I'm doing data management with this Camera, and I was hoping someone might know where I could find a native EX-3 file to run some tests with. It's mainly to check the functionality of the Clip Browser and how it looks when exported/imported.

Thanks in advance.

You can download a range of native EX files from the Sony UK site:

You do need to register to get them.

It seems those are .mp4's of EX-3 test footage. I'm looking for the a download of their native file format. Any ideas?

It's a disk of test files for $25 for just such purposes.

.MP4 is the native wrapper for the EX format. It is Mpeg 2 within an MP4 container. Don't confuse MP4 with mp4 they are two different things.

If you download some of the demo clips then open the Sony Clip Browser application, select a folder and go "File" "Import" and select the .MP4 files it will import the files into the folder creating a BPAV folder along with all the XML files and other stuff that you would find on an SxS card from the camera.

I just downloaded one of the clips, and for some reason, it won't import into the clip browser. It says:

"Failed to import clip.
Reason: You don't have a right to access the file or writing is prohibited for the file."

I installed all the correct drivers, so I'm not sure what could be wrong. Any ideas?
