XDCAM 2.9.0 Update - incomplete package??
on Mar 5, 2009 at 2:44:43 pm

I have installed the PDZK-P1(V2.90).zip software package on three systems so far. The new U1 utility installs and I have upgraded the firmware on three U1s. I can now change disc names and write to the General subdirectory.

However, there was not an installer for XDCAM Transfer in the .zip package. After the update the version is still 2.8. I cannot export a sequence as a clip to the U1. I can export a MXF to the General subdirectory.

For those who have upgraded, what is your experience? Thanks!

Make sure you installed all the updates and drivers on this link:

Thanks, but USA customers are not allowed to register. I used the software provided at the US Sony Services Plus website.

USA Sony site is missing the actual XDCAM Transfer Tool 2.9 software. The installer only has the drivers. I had no problem ensuring that Brooklyn is part of the UK though.

After all the British did force George Washington to retreat off of Brooklyn in late August, 1776.

Looks like the Canadian site has it if you're looking for XDCAM Transfer Tool v.2.9.

After a clever registration, I downloaded the dmg missing from the US. We finally wrote a FCP sequence to the U1's clip folder via USB. Finally, round trip from XDCAM HD camcorders! We have two 700s and a 355.

Thanks for all the guidance. Ray

Yesterday I was complaining that the Canadians were to slow this time.
No way to download from the UK.
The country I live in is don't even exist for them.
Canada won once again:-)

Finally the update is here. So let me be the first to ask a question. Can I mix formats when exporting from FCP? I sent two 1440x1080 XDCAM HD 1080i60 VBR files and they copied over no problem. I then tried to export a 1920x1080 XDCAM EX 1080i60 vbr but got the following error message:

Please check that your XDCAM device is set up correctly, the REC INHIBIT indicator is off, and the disc is not full.
The device should be configured like this:
Video: MPEG HD 60i. Audio: 2 ch x 16 bit
Error writing MXF file (while checking successful write()).

I have over 50% open disc space, audio configured to 4 channel, dual mono. Only thing I can figure is that I can't export different formats. Am I correct?

Brian, I am having the same problem. Write is enabled, but I can't tell why the media won't write to the disc. Anyone have any thoughts?

i could be wrong, but i believe the largest you can write back to disc, currently, is 1440x1080. It should, however, transcode your EX footage to 1440x1080. But you cannot then go back to 1920x1080 without quality loss. that is what i've come to understand from a Sony ICE Team member.
