I was about to buy The Tiffen Scenic Enhancement Kit 3 - Sunset Color Grad 2, Enhancing Filter, Color Grad ND .6 Filters for the Sony EX 1 I use, but I read somewhere that Tiffen isn't the best choice for the EX 1. Anyone have any thoughts or direction on this? I'll be shooting a lot of outdoor scenics on Kauai. Thanks.

Douglas

I haven't heard of a good or bad sunset filter but I would recommend looking into an IR contamination filter if you're outdoors a lot.

A "sunset grad" has nothing to do with restriction of red-frequency infiltration. (Sorry NK). A SUNSET GRAD is a colored grad that starts (at the top) Reddish-orange then transitions to yellow-ee; the bottom half-ish is, naturally, clear-ish. Real popular in SCI-FI Channel movies. All the standard sizes are represented: 4x4, 4x5.65, etc. Additionally, they are available in various intensities from 1 to 3(?). I own them in the FORMATT brand, but Tiff and Schni probably have them to.

Teknote: Since the atmosphere in the waining sun absorbs all the RED-band, an IR filter would be of no value.

Cheers and Best Wishes
