Wanting to get it right! EX3 With new PC
on Jan 1, 2009 at 4:21:13 am

I'm building a new PC for video work, and I would like for someone to read the specs on my new PC. Any takers? Am I in the right form?

Well definitely something fast, with 2-4GB of RAM and some good external RAIDs or USB-2(I guess) hard drives would do the trick. Also getting the right NLE would be key- Adobe CS4, Vegas to name a few.

if you wanna be right the first time around
buy a mac pro (the cheapest will do), add a drive and final cut.
if you want to use your decklink card , the most expensive part of your system (whatever it is) will probably be your reference monitor. (maybe one of the most expensive parts)

good luck

Ok, so something like a Sony broadcast monitor? CRT, LCD?

Thanks for your comments.

I think you're going to spend a lot more time fixing your PC than editing but that's just my elitist/Apple self talking. :) That said, I would recommend an upgrade to Adobe CS4 rather than 3 as it supports the EX3 much better.

Noah, I'm having pretty good luck with my PC's. CS4 is on my list.

Thanks
