I'm about to invest in an HD field monitor and thought I'd check the experts here who, hopefully, have some real world experience with these models. I'm looking to spend $2 - $3K. I've decided to stick with the 7 - 9" units. I'd like HD SDI in and would prefer one with the waveform monitor option. The models I'm looking at are:
JVC DT-V9L1DU (no waveform or vectorscope)
TV Logic LVM-071
I was staying away from the Sony's, after being horrified by the quality of some of their recent LCD so-called "professional" monitors. Reviews of these units are hard to come by, so any input would be greatly appreciated.
Mac Pro 2.66 - 8GB memory - Mac OS 10.5.2 - Quicktime 7.4.5
Mac Book Pro 2.33 Duo
FC Studio 2 (Final Cut 6.0.3)
Adobe Production Suite CS3
Sony Multiformat 14" Panasonic 42" Plasma
Ikegami HLDV7 - Pvw EX-1
Apparently a new MARSHALL monitor of that size is about to hit the market (says my sales rep at Videocraft in Melbourne, Australia). Retails for about $1200, all the required inputs and uses Sony PD150 batteries etc (so another $600 for batteries and charger).
Can't tell you dimensions or much more, but I've been told to hold out for this one for a budget reasonable option.
