XDCAM Transfer 2.0 is out
on Nov 3, 2007 at 1:09:53 pm

Sony did put XDCAM Transfer 2.0 on their ftp-server

ftp://ftp.sony.com
If using OS X, use an ftp program.

User Name: storage
Password: NONE (e.g. leave blank)

Select the folder: XDCAM - Optical Disk
Select the folder: Software
Select the folder: PDKZ-P1 for Mac-FCP Transfer
Select the folder: XDCAM Transfer Version 2.0

I wasn't able to do the default installation. The FAM driver wouldn't update. So I did the special installation (FAM driver update disabled) instead. As far as I can see the software works fine.

At first glance XCDAM Transfer 2.0 is niecer to look at, it gives more information and lets you sort clips in many ways. It's also easier to import subclips.
In the preferences pane you're able to disable the proxy import (I like that one!), add the diskname to the file name (I did this before with an automator script) and only import the monitored audio channels (very handy).

Klaas

How did you instal, I have downloaded, but just get installation failed. There does not seem to be an option to just instal the software without the FAM driver.

Please disregard, I need my eyes tested, found the option.

Got it installed.

When I saw this at NAB, they had a feature where you could output a QT of the proxy W/ TC Burn-In.

That was the feature we were looking forward to the most...

Am I missing it or does it look like it was left out?

I think the timecode overlay option in XDT was removed because QT Player now displays the timecode properly if the movie has a timecode track (and all proxy and hi-reso movies from XDT do).

Yes...

You're right. Quicktime does offer timecode support now. BUT, I think that most users are looking for a heads up display just like the decks with character output.

I think that would be a great feature to have in the software, along with the ability to output proxy files with this info embedded on the video track, not just in it but on it. This is what I think that Proper Modulation was speaking of.

It now says that a password is required for the account: storage. Any ideas? Anyone still have a copy of the file?

Robert,

You can still get the software from the the Sony web site. It's a 129meg file that also includes the EX1 owner's manual .pdf as well as the transfer software that will be shipping with the camera.

Don,

XDCAM Transfer 2.0 is software to transfer/convert MXF files from a XDCAM HD camera like the PDW-F350 to editable QuickTime files on a Mac.
XDCAM EX Clip Browsing Software V1.1 does the same for the XDCAM EX camera's.
Depending on the camera you own, you need the one or the other software.

Hopefully Sony Fixes the FAM Driver install. That was an issue with 1.1 in Leopard. Still have some quirkiness in Leopard with Version 2.0. Like not being able to rename the disc (does not save it when disc is reloaded). But able to import clips so that is the important part.

Well.... I see it this way.

2.0 didn't work very well at all. If you check Sony's website, you'll see that the full released version is 2.1. And this very issue that people are seeing has been fixed, at least from what I have witnessed on our systems.

I am running 2.1.0 version at the moment, thats not doing it either.

I will try a fresh start and see if it makes a difference.
Anyone also having this problem still under 2.1.0

thanks

Roger

I have the same issue. Attempts to rename the disc result in an "Invalid Source Name" message. I'm then told the name has to be smaller than 32 bytes, no matter what I try to rename it.

Also, the disc does not appear in the Finder, so I can't rename it there as the white paper suggests.

I'm also running version 2.1.0, on a G5 Powermac.

if you are running 10.5 (Leopard) then you need to upgrade to XDCAM Transfer 2.5.1 ... then you'll get the disc back in the Finder
