I am working on a document in Indesign (CS2) with html links that are live (originally imported from Microsoft Word), but when I export the document to a PDF, the links are lost. The only way I am thinking to resolve this, is to go in and create each link manually in the PDF document, which will take a long time given the size (80 pages) of the document. Is there a way to retain the html links when exporting to PDF?
r u on a mac by chance? there is a serious problem between MS and Adobe regarding the preservation of links. But if you are indesign, and you create the links there, you should be able to save a PDF out of indesign that works. But links that come from Word probally won't work. This is true if you just use Mac word 2008, and say create a table of contents and make a PDF. Those links go dead. MS and Adobe are aware of this (according to MVPs on Mactopia) but the two companies are in a deadlock with finger pointing. hope this helps!
