Export 16 pages book for a print shop
on Dec 20, 2007 at 5:42:18 pm

Hello,
I have tried all export option in InDesign CS, because I need to export my 16 pages book to a print shop. But none of them seemed to export a print shop compatible .pdf result.
How can I make sure my exported .pdf file book is print shop-ready?
Thanks much.

I think you need to ask the print shop what specifications they want. Different shops want different formats and settings. They should have like a spec sheet for submissions.

Keep calling and someone there will know. You may need a tech person instead of the salesperson to help. they are probably used to doing this for new customers.

Do a file > Adobe PDF Presets > PDF/X-4 2007

or any of the PDF/X format you have depending on your version of InDesign.

PDF/X is just an ISO standard of settings developed as a standard for excahnging files with print shops, and though most PDF formats are acceptable as long as the image resolution is not reduced or overly compressed and stays CMYK.

Every print shop may have their own rules, but if they did not give you a spec sheet, then they shouold be happy enough with PDF/X.
