Since font management tools are so bleak on the Mac, Linotype has a free OSX tool for those of you who need it.

I've been using this now for a little more than three weeks and it's been perfect for my work flow.

I'm involved in custom publishing, design and web production and haven't had any problems with this.

Yes, it reminds me a bit of iTunes for Fonts. Very straightforward in the interface and very useful.

And free.

Now out of guilt I have to buy some Linotype fonts from them.

A good look at fonts and font management (including FontExplorer X) is in the current version of Layers Magazine. I am a little biased, as my husband wrote the article...but I'm pretty font savvy and I learned a few things. He's been using FE X a lot and seems to like it. And, as he likes to say, "Free is My Favorite Price!"
