Full-Version Upgrade to InCopy 2.0 Now Available Directly Through Adobe and Systems Integrators

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 2003--Adobe Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:ADBE) today shipped Adobe InCopy(R) CS, a full-version upgrade to the professional writing and editing program that integrates tightly with Adobe InDesign(R) CS and the all-new Adobe Creative Suite (also now shipping). InCopy CS puts copyfitting control back in the hands of editors. With a new editorial workflow technology that allows writers, editors, and designers to work simultaneously on the same InDesign CS document, InCopy CS streamlines editorial revision and review cycles, reducing the amount of time it takes to get a publication to press.

Instead of traditional version numbers, Adobe is now using "CS" to identify new versions of its market-leading creative professional applications, in order to better reflect the deep level of integration across the products.

Previously only available through systems integrators and third-party developers servicing large publishing enterprises, Adobe InCopy CS will now also be sold directly from the Adobe store (http://www.adobe.com/store), bringing InCopy in reach of small editorial teams for the first time. Originally designed for large publishing companies, InCopy CS is extending its market reach by providing a professional editorial workflow solution for small workgroups of less than 10 people -- in ad agencies, design firms, newspapers and magazines -- through an innovative bridge technology that enables InDesign CS and InCopy CS to work together right out of the package.

Maintain Copy Integrity Through Page Visualization

Tight integration between InDesign and InCopy, provides 100 percent accurate line-break information, while alternative document views -- galley view, story view, layout view -- allow editors to see how the copy and page layout interact. Using text macros, keyboard shortcuts, dynamic spell checking, a Thesaurus Palette, and robust find and change options, InCopy CS users can quickly and efficiently perform everyday editorial tasks. Meanwhile, quick access to detailed document statistics such as word, line and character counts, as well as vertical depth measurement, makes copyfitting easier.

Work Smarter with Parallel Workflow

Together, Adobe InCopy CS and Adobe InDesign CS set the foundation for a true parallel workflow between editors and designers. Using editorial workflow technology and simple file check-in and check-out, editors and designers can work on the same content simultaneously without overwriting each other's changes. In-line notes and change tracking tools let editors review and collaborate more closely, while support for XML allows InCopy CS to integrate into a wide variety of cross-media publishing workflows.

Pricing and Availability

InCopy CS for Mac OS X version 10.2, Microsoft(R) Windows 2000, and Windows XP (Home and Professional Editions) is available today to customers in the United States and Canada through the Adobe Store at http://www.adobe.com, for an estimated street price of US$249 for all platforms. InCopy will also be available through Adobe-authorized system integrators. Pricing and availability will be determined by systems integrators based on individual installations.
