This is just a heads up for Avid Nitris DX users who are considering adding the HyperDeck Shuttle to their workflow.
We are new adopters and we would really like to use the shuttle to bypass using DVCProHD tape on our HDX900 camera. This would save a ton of time in capturing, not to mention moving away from deck issues that keep cropping up with our DVCProHD decks.
Unfortunately it is not working for us. For some reason the DNXHD files the shuttle records, whether in QuickTime or MXF wrapping, produce an error in the NItris DX hardware, making the clips unusable. They work fine in software-only mode and on the system that uses an AJA IO Express. But we have three systems that rely on the Nitris DX IO to accelerate their performance and monitor.
Blackmagic Design's tech support has been very helpful in troubleshooting and now their senior technicians are looking into it and have said they will probably collaborate with Avid to sort it out.
But for now, as far as we can tell, this is not a solution for Avid users using Avid's flagship Nitris DX hardware.
