Our church is moving to digital streaming with a 1 M/E. We are thinking of also replacing our audio mixer and are looking for suggestions. (Our current mixer is a PEAVEY XR684F.)
We only record speech. We do not have a band, piano, nor a choir, and never will. We currently utilized 2 wireless and 3 fixed (XLR) mikes. We never really 'mix', just switch which mike is feeding the mixer. We would like something that can either be recessed into a desk or has 19" rack tabs, but it's not a requirement.
any mixer will do. All the music store mixers (Peavey, Mackie, Behringer, Yamaha, Soundcraft) will all do the same job. There are no "garbage" mixers on the market anymore - they all work. One thing I can assure you of - all of these mixers, if they are old (and you buy them used) will have NOISY DIRTY potentiometers (knobs and faders), and you will not be able to clean them to your satisfaction. So find the one that suits your budget, and buy it, and you should get 3 - 4 years of life out of it.
