We run a weekly news program at our school and found the intensity extreme as a good alternative to the Firewire-RCA converter we've been using for our live broadcasts. An issue we had with the previous one (a Sony converter) was that HD footage in Final Cut Pro 7 would not play out to composite video (Standard Definition). We use HD cameras but the school's system is still all SD so we need to downconvert, however this takes a lot of time and requires us to re-render the entire sequence in another size.
Is the Intensity Extreme capable of downconverting this HD footage (ProRes 422) into a format viewable by the switcher we use (Panasonic AG-MX70) in real-time or is this too much data to be handled live? If this doesn't work are there any alternatives to the Intensity Extreme or how we're going about doing this?
Overall, our problem is that we need to play various news packages and commercials directly from the timeline during the show, but these videos are in HD and our switcher does not recognize any HD formats.
