Intensity Shuttle + Gigabyte Motherboard

I've looked at the specs for several Gigabyte motherboards but I can't seem to find anything regarding X55 or X58 info. I'd like to know if what I have will work before I buy the shuttle. Can anyone answer if this Motherboard is compatible? Gigabyte GA-880GMA-USB3 I greatly appreciate the help.

That is not an X55 or X58 chipset MB - however it might work anyway. Really you cannot tell without trying it.

As time goes on more and more chipsets should work with the shuttle.

If you want to get an X58 chipset you can find the list of gigabyte MB with this chipset at http://www.gigabyte.com/products/list.aspx?s=42&jid=1&p=2&v=1

Hi Lon,
is there a specific reason to buy a Gigabyte motherboard? Usually Asus provide better compatibility with BMD products. There were many not-Asus with X58 chipset that weren't compatible.

Since X58 is out of date, I'd suggest to go on the X79 and on Asus P9X79 (I'm using two Shuttle one for Input and one for output), on the integrated USB 3.0 ports (ASMedia® ASM1061 controller). The compability is not due to the USB 3.0 chip maker, but from the Mainboard (I can add to the P9X79 any USB 3.0 HBAs and the Intensity Shuttle always works!)

I bought for another system an Asus P8Z77-M that has Chipset integrated USB ports (it is much cheaper solution, since I use the P9X79 with 6 core processors). I hope to test it with the Shuttle next week.

Paolo

Are you able to use the Shuttle with HDMI, or just component?

Also, Egghead shows 4 different versions of your MB. Could you tell me which of the 4 you have?

P9X79 PRO
P9X79 DELUXE
P9X79 WS
P9X79

Hi Jerel,
I can use the Intensity Shuttle with all I/O options, i.e. HDMI, Component, Composite and Y/C.

I'm using the standard ASUS P9X79; I like it because it has a PCI-32bit slot and on-board IEEE-1394.

well, I was asking because that is what I have currently. I wanted to know if anyone had tried to use my motherboard before I invested in the shuttle only to find out I have to upgrade my motherboard and chip to use it. Seems like it only works with Pentium setups. Is that correct? I have an AMD Phenom II 1090T chip on the aforementioned motherboard.

Hi,
I never used it with an AMD, and I think there is no literature from BMD confirming it, but some months ago there were one or more other guys that wrote that they were using the Shuttle (successfully) with AMD Phenom II CPUs.
Hope it helps,
