ATEM TVS/H.264 Pro with UStream, Livestream & Justin.tv

MX Light Recording / Streaming software for the ATEM TVS & H.264 Pro-Recorder has been updated to v1.4 and now includes RTMP support.

The focus of this release has been primarily on streaming operation and simplification of the streaming user interface

The highlights:

  • RTMP support
  • Presets for UStream, Livestream & Justin.tv
  • Overhauled streaming GUI. For many people this means they wont have to touch command line's at all
  • Preset templates, which generate virtual presets per network adapter to simplify LAN based streaming.
  • Preset management including import & export
  • Stream auto-reconnect options

Further information can be found here http://www.mxlight.co.uk . An updated demo version is available on the download page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Richard Freemantle

Will this work with Ustream's Watershed?

Hi Jarod,

Looking at their support documentation this should be possible with a couple of minor tweaks to the standard UStream preset.

Please contact me via the MX Light website if you would like to test a preset for this.

Just a small question.

You say the software uses significantly less resources than other solutions but can you (or someone using the software) be a little more specific? Would a i3 2330 be enough to record and stream at the same time?

Charles

Hi Charles,

I would recommend testing the MX Light demo available on the website, if you have the hardware available (TVS/ProRec).

MX Light can record & stream using just a few % cpu (on a core2 Q9450) but this depends on not having to re-encode the h264/aac stream generated by the TVS/ProRec.
The minimum bitrate of the hardware encoder is ~1.3Mbps, as such if you wish to stream over the internet using RTMP without having to re-encode, you would need a fast upload speed & a service which accepts high bitrates.
MX Light can re-encode the AV stream to achieve <1.3Mbps but this does require significant CPU power, naturally this is all dependant on your source material & the output resolution required.

Hope this answers you question

Rich

This is very interesting.
Going to have to give it a try.

Hi is there a way, your streaming on Ustream gets recorded for future view, using MXlight.
I did try to use demo MXLight but could not find the option.

also its not smooth as I am using producer pro from ustream.

The problem using producer pro, by itself is it dose not recognize the ATEM TVS.

all suggestions are welcome...!

Hey there! Super helpful post.

Could you please clarify - do I need BOTH the atem tvs AND the h264 Pro to be able to stream with the mxstream software?

Thanks so much!

Hi Ryan,

You don't need both. The ATEM TVS has the same h264 hardware encoder as the H264 Pro Recorder.

Thanks,
Rich
