H.264 Pro Recorder 16:9 PAL source (SDI or YC input) results in a 4:3 file
on Mar 1, 2012 at 12:19:35 pm

Hi,
I feed the H.264 Pro Recorder with 16:9 PAL footage (720x576 anamorph) via YC or SDI and use the latest software (9.1, 31 Januar 2012).
The 16:9 anamorphic option in BMD Media Express is checked, the project displays PAL 720x576p 25fps as I expect it to. I can capture. Capture preview and Media Express playback show the file in the right aspect ratio of 16:9.

However: VLC Media Player and others display it as 4:3. Adobe Premiere Pro reports a pixel aspect ratio of 1. It should be 1,4 approx.

Any ideas please?
Thank you for your replies!
Dieter

Hi.
Had the same problem. Quickfix is to Modify > Interpret Footage and choose Conform to PAL widescreen all in the Project tab of Premiere. The exported h.264 clip now is shown correct in both VLC and Media Player.

Still don't know how to make Media Express do this by itself.
