Setting this thing up?!?!
on Mar 2, 2011 at 12:07:13 pm

Hi there,

We have just got our deck in. Basic playback deck with SDI cables. We have put in the Decklink HD extreme 3D and installed various drivers of the CD....

So....we arent going to use their software and looking to log and capture thru FCP but quite frankly, I havent a baldy where to begin in setting it up so that the deck and the FCP speak to one another!

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Cheers

It's complicated, isn't it ? You have several choices here -
1) get your dealer to set this up for you
2) hire a freelancer to come in and set this up for you
3) read the manual, and do it yourself.

when you say "we aren't going to use their software" - do you mean that you aren't going to
use the Blackmagic software, and only intend to use FCP ? Well, you ARE going to use Blackmagic
software. You need to have an understanding of the Blackmagic control panel, and you need to understand
Blackmagic Media Express. And if you say "screw this, I should have bought an easier product" - there are no easier products. If you buy the AJA, Matrox, or MOTU, they all work this way.

Choose from one of the three things I mentioned above, or you will not get this to work.
