Question for those who own a DeckLink HD Extreme 3D+
on Feb 8, 2011 at 10:51:48 am

Wanted to know, does the DeckLink HD Extreme 3D+ has an option for "NTSC Progressive" capture in the capture menu (where you select the capture format)? Also, for 3D sources on input/capture, does it require a 3D monitor (or 3d t.v v.i the hdmi output on card) for preview will preview work on a non-3d monitor? Thanks

There is no NTSC Progressive capture preset in the traditional sense. It does have the ablitity to remove 3:2 pull down on footage that is sent to the device as 24p as 59.94. You will need to use the A frame selection tool in the Processing tab of the Blackmagic Control panel. But this requires the use of timecode and therefore will only work if RS422 device control is connected. Which obviously requires a card that supports RS 422 (Decklink HD Extreme 3D+ does).

3D capture MUST be from a 3D source. If the clocks are off on two different devices they will not capture properly.

You can playback the 3D footage to a 2D monitor if you like, but you will see split screens out of aspect. Depending on how you set the control panel you will see left/right, top/bottom, or Interleaved.

That board in particular also supports HDMI 1.4 so if you have an HDMI 1.4 TV/Monitor you can send the signal to the monitor frame packed.

Hello Joshua, thank you for the reply. I was hoping the recent update that added NTSC Progressive capture to the UltraStudio Pro and Intensity Shuttle was also extended to the DeckLink HD Extreme 3D+, but it sounds like that was not the case. Do you know if there any such plans to do so in the near future? Thanks, Aaron
