Dell no longer supported for Intensity Pro/Shuttle?

I was just reading the updated requirements doc(s) on Blackmagic's support site (#047 and #204) and they both state:

"Please note: Dell workstations are not supported for use with Blackmagic Design capture cards."

All we have is Dell (that's all our IT will support), and we have been using an Intensity Shuttle with it (with several problems, but also some success) for months.

Is this a declaration that Blackmagic will no longer support us because we are using Dell?

Is there any specific information available around what/if anything prevents it from working correctly 100% of the time?

I believe their stating Dells USB 3 and express slots for a USB 3 card may not have the required bandwidth for normal operation of the Shuttle or don't have n X58 or P55 chipset. Asus and Gigabyte make motherboards that work great with them.

It's more of a general statement. We will still try to do all we can to support the customer.

Dells have been a problem with us in the past because there is no way to get to any engineering resources in case of a conflict. They will also many times change hardware components in the same model of machine. So as an outdated example a two dimension 4400's 6 months a part will very likely have completely different components.

And this statement is more heavily targeted at the server lines which are missing a setting we need to work properly.

So..it's an overly generalized statement.

My recomendation. Buy with caution and thoroughly vet one of these machines before buying more of them.

Most of the times the problems Dell users experience are the same as any other home built system might. So in that vein we do our best to diagnose the problem before we say it's not compatible
