HDLink DisplayPort 3D - No output

HDLink DisplayPort 3D - No output

I'm having an issue with a new HDLink DisplayPort 3D with a Decklink HD Extreme 3D. It's connected to an NEC MultiSync PA241W. It worked like a champ for the first few days and then decided to stop working.

Here's what I've tried:

Unplug and replug all the cables
Power down everything down, reconnect, and bring everything back up
Turned on the preference for "Override monitor's preferred EDID settings"
Uninstalled and reinstalled HDLink Utility 3.5
Uninstalled 3.5 and installed 3.4
Reinstalled 3.5

I am using the supplied power supply with the HDLink. I've confirmed that the decklink is outputting signal via HDMI. The monitor is able to display an image from my computer via the displayport.

Any ideas?

Solved it!

I went back and RTFM again and realized that the firmware isn't updated until the device has been restarted (unplug for 5 seconds and plug back in). All is well now :)

Hi Josh

I have just bought a Decklink Studio 2 to get a video output from Resolve to my NEC PA 241W, and it doesn t work !

The problem seems to be the monitor. It works badly in 720p ( dirt red image ) but not at all in 1080p. The screen told me : DVI out of signal. It seems to be a problem of frequency : why the NEC doesnt recognize the cleam 50/60 hz coming out from resolve?

It s very frustrating.

Do you personnally succeed in outputing video to your NEc ? And by chance do you have any idea for my problem ?

Sometimes I'll get the "no signal" error on the monitor. While Resolve is still running, I unplug the hdlink for 5 seconds and plug it back in, which usually fixes the issue. Also, be sure that you are not sending an interlaced signal to the monitor. Do you have an issue when you are set to 422 color?

The only other advice would be to reset the firmware. Make sure you cycle the power in order for the upgrade to stick.

Thanks for the answer.

Yes the signal is 1080p. And i try to instal/reset firmware a few times.

But why do you use a hdlink ? Why don t you connect your NEC to your Decklink card ?

With display port, you will get 10 bit to the monitor. Hdmi with an adapter will only get you 8 bit as far as I know.

Ok i understand. But does it work in 8 bit using a DVI/HDMI cable or a DISPLAY PORT/HDMI cable direct to your Decklink card ?
This information is very important for me.

Personaly i don t need 10 bit for the moment, and i don t have the money to get a HDlink, so i have to find a solution.

As far as I can tell, it does not work without an hdlink. I'm not clear on why the Nec monitor can't accept a signal from the decklink card directly. Perhaps someone from blackmagic can chime in.

Here is the answer from BM :

"The HDMI output of your Blackmagic product is not compatible with DVI. While
HDMI connections can be compatible with DVI connections, the HDMI output of
our products uses the YUV colour space, whereas DVI can only accept an RGB
colour space signal. HDMI can carry YUV or RGB signals, but with our
products they only output in YUV."
