supermicro 1U rackmount

Hi,

I would like to install a Decklink SDI (2008 rev G) in a 1U rackmount chassis for a specific application (SD only). My configuration is descibed below:
- rackmount: SuperMicro SC512L fitted with PCIe x8 riser
- motherboard: Supermicro X7SBL-LN2
- CPU: intel E8500 3GHz S775
- MEM: 2GB DDR2 800
- HDD: WD caviar 250GB

Could you please tell me if the configuration seems good to you (especially the motherboard) ?
Thank you.

Best regards,

Ronan

what graphics card will you use with this. What monitor will you use - you must use a
1920x1200 monitor. Are you using an ATI 4670 ?

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your answer.
There are two intel chipsets on the motherboard (intel 3200 & intel ICH9R that handle PCI_express) and a dedicated chipset (XGI Volari Z9s) for VGA support (up to 1600x1200).
We don't want to use the decklink as primary video controller but only for SDTV video output.

Thank you.

Ronan

Haven't you looked at the Blackmagic website ? You MUST use a monitor that displays 1920x1200 (like a 24" LCD monitor), and you must use only certain specific graphics cards. I have tried recently using a Samsung 24" LCD that had a max resolution of 1920x1080, and IT DID NOT WORK.

I suggest that you look at this, and stop assuming anything -
http://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/detail.asp?techID=195

and if your fingers are too sore to click on this -

Operating System

•Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3
•Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition with Service Pack 2
•Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit with Service Pack 2
•Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit with Service Pack 2
•Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit with Service Pack 2
•Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit with Service Pack 2
Processor

•Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5 Ghz or better
•Intel i5-750 2.66 Ghz or better
•Intel i7-860 2.8 Ghz or better
Verified Motherboards

•Asus P5Q Pro
•Intel DG45ID
•Intel DQ45CB
•Gigabyte GA-EP41-UD3L
•Gigabyte GA-P55-UD5 (rev 1.0)
•DFI Lanparty JR GF9400-T2RS
Intel X58 based motherboards are current not recommended.
Verified Systems

•HP xw4600
•HP xw8600
•HP Z400
•HP Z800
RAM

•2 Gb for Windows XP
•4 Gb for Windows Vista
Graphics Card

Blackmagic Ultrascope requires a graphics card that supports OpenGL 2.1 or better. The following graphic cards have been verified to be compatible:

•Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT1
•Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT
•Nvidia GTS 250
•Nvidia Quadro FX 4800
•ATI Radeon HD 4650

Maurice,
as always you are correct, and I am an idiot. I owe you another beer (or something like that). Always reading too quickly, and responding without thinking.

Thanks Maurice !
