DeckLink SDI

Hi - I'm kinda new to this, just have a quick question. My church has two MacPro's each running the DeckLink SDI card. Both of them are outputting SDI via Propresenter. We also want to capture video via SDI into Final Cut. The problem we are having is we can't figure out how to simultaneously output video from one application (propresenter) and capture video in another (final cut) on one machine. I am not sure if the DeckLink SDI card even supports this.

If someone can think of a solution or point me to a card that is capable of doing what I need, it would be much appreciated. We are looking for something that is cost effective... Thanks

So I emailed tech support at Blackmagic and this is what they said-

Unfortunately the described workflow below will not work. Our products are
designed to be used in an one video source, per card, per workstation, at a
time workflow. There is simply no way to have the card input one video
signal for capture, while at the same time be recognized by a second
application for outputting a second video source.

The only thing I could suggest would be to have you download and take a look
at our SDK (linked below). This will allow you to custom write your own
software application that will allow you to install two DeckLink SDI cards
into a single system, and run your capture input through one, and your
second video stream playback through the other.

I understand the part about using two separate cards, however I don't understand what "SDK" is or how to custom write my own software application? Can someone help me?

Hi Joel,

You need a software programmer (computer programmer, coder, etc.) to write a custom application for you. The SDK is a Software Development Kit. We programmers use SDKs to interact with all kinds of things. In this case, the SDK from Blackmagic allows us to control the card or cards in the system.

Hope this helps,
Eric
