Its been a while since I've had to do this but my recollection was, that with a Kona card I could capture material from a 1400 deck that was shot at 23.98 to a 29.97 psf timeline in FCP and that the Kona would only delete the necessary duplicate frames of a given clip to retain a 29.97psf frame rate and thus be compatible with a 29.97 timeline.
Am I wrong and not remembering correctly? is this possible?
The desire to cut in 29.97 is that there is other source material that is 29.97 and it should make for an easier conform for broadcast then capturing the 23.98 varicam material at either 24 or 60.
Any of you Kona experts know if this is possible with a Decklink HD Pro or Extreme?
I'm an AJA user myself and I don't think that the Decklink cards remove the duplicate frames of varicam on the fly, is there another way to accomplish this in a decklink workflow? FRConverter?
