I am a new user to Maya, I am trying to create an effect using shatter. I am using maya 6 unlimited. This is the effect i need. One stationary poly, one poly falling ontop of it. when the spheres colide, the bottom sphere needs to shatter. I can animate the whole proccess using gravity dynamics, i add a shater effect to the poly(originaly a nurb), and nothing happens. the 2 globes just bounce off of each other. Do i need to animate the shards, or can i apply dynamics to them so they will reacte appropiatly when hit
The shatter effect groups the individual shards it creates. If you make this group a rigid body, it will act like one solid object to the dynamics engine. You will have to select all the separated pieces instead of their group and go to Bodies->Active Rigid Body.
