operating a projecter from Dir. 7 in a newer Mac
by William Aksel on Jun 10, 2003 at 5:16:01 pm
I burned a CD of my project that uses 31 protected movies in addition to a small projector. It was created in Dir. 7 in OS 8.6 on a 300 mh G3. When I tried to run the projector on a G4 in OS 10 or so, it gave a message as follows:
"Where is the .INI file?
should contain a section [movies]
with entry Movie01=Pathname.dir"
When I run the CD on my own machine (in the internal CD drive, not the external SCSI CD burner, and Dir. not opened), it runs just fine. What's up?

Well, if you try to run a pre-OSX projector in an OSX environment, it should open it in Classic mode. Not always, it depends on "I don't know what". The only app that can create a projector in OSX is Director MX. So, open your movie in Director MX in OSX and re-create the first projector (usually called stubb) as it is. The rest of the protected project might work. If not, open the source files in DMX and protect them again. I had no major compatibility problem opening a pre-OSX movie in DMX. Seems like Macromedia improved their product... :o)
hope it helps!
