Hmmm, I'm sorry to hear that the problem persists.

When you say, 'extrudes and slightly more complex geometry' give you problems, how literally do you mean that? Can you take a cube, extrude one face, and try a boolean between the resulting object and a primitive cube to get a failure? If so, that sounds like a real bug. Or, are you just having the problem with some complex objects you're trying to model in one particular scene? Could you describe the objects that are causing this problem, or post screenshots or scene files?

Other suggestions I can offer: check that your normals are all facing the right way--flipped normals can play havok with booleans; also the 'cleanup polygon' tool might be helpful.

Unfortunately I can't offer anything more concrete.
