VHS to DV - Canon ZR25?

I'm trying to dub from vhs to my ZR25, and am currently having no luck....I have connected the AV cable (rca to AV) to the RCA outs on my TV (VCR is connected to the RCA 'in' on the TV), and am unsure of:

a. whether this is the correct config

b. what the next step is

should the camera be set to VCR or Camera mode, and from there what do i do...
i am currently traveling, and of course left both my camera remote and manual at home....anyone who can provide some insight would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance
