Different jobs require different approaches.

When we're cutting doco's its 50-80 hrs at 15:1. Everything gets loaded by a assistant who will also high rez the cut (conform) ready for online finishing.
TVC's get loaded at 10:1. No point loading any higher as the selects get graded up in telecine anyway. They are then onlined at 1:1
Fast turnaround corporate goes in at 2:1 is cut in a few days and consolidated. Often with goverment jobs I master em out to tape as they can take up to six months to sign off!

It all depends.

Sometimes its quicker to just grab a few shots off a tape. Other times its way quicker (and better) to let the whole thing roll.

One thing I know for sure is your suite should be able to cope with any job that walks in the door
