I'm not bashing, I've use .tga and .tif for all the Video work I do. :)

that's why I was wondering why a .png looks so great but is much smaller
and easier to deal with for certain things. I have found definite advantages to the .png format. I use it usually exclusively for texture maps on 3d models, nice large maps that are a fraction what a .tif or .tga would be yet look and render exactly the same. Using a .tif or .tga of the same frame would choke my 3d app a little in the material editor. Not so with .png
