I would say go with the standard for weddings. You only get one shot! Plus, sometimes the subjects want the raw footage, which they can't work with without a 24p editing setup. You're going to be doing things hand held at a reception so you don't want to be dealing with over/under exposures or scan lines in the footage.

If they do a rehearsal, test out the 24p exposures then. You might have a cooperative group to work with that will understand your needs. Sell them on the benifits to them, like (You can make photographs from the videos better in 24p..etc) :)
