Use of brand name terms and names of characters

I'm writing a movie musical and one song is a love letter to old school video games. Is there any issue with the use of a video game title or character in a song?
Also, what about the use of titles of movies or the mention of characters or elements from a movie? Can you have a piece of dialogue or a song lyric that mentions Star Wars or talks about a lightsabers or references Luke Skywalker? Would there be any problem with using those in a song or piece of dialogue?

I know that many of Kevin Smith's movies(including his first Clerks) make references to Star Wars items or other pop culture references.
