HDV 720 24P best workflow to be transfered to film?
by Harry Courniotes (Corn82) on Jul 3, 2008 at 7:35:48 pm

I am shooting a feature on a JVC HDV cam in 720 24P. I do not think there is a way to go HD-SDI out to a capture card... So what do you think would be the best way to capture to then transfer to film. This is what I was thinking:
Shoot HDV
Capture HDV to Apple Pro Res HQ via Firewire.
Cut in Pro Res HQ then output final cut of feature to 10bit uncompressed to a drive and send to transfer facility.

What do you guys think? Is this the optimal workflow?

thanks!!!

Sure about as optimal as it gets with JVC HDV 24p.

Anyone know what I should do once this is cut? Would you recommend outputing to a uncompressed mov file, or keep it in pro res?

I think what I am going to do is keep it in pro res and take it to a post house for transfer to HDCAM...

Please help! I need help figuring out the best workflow in post to get the to HD CAM or digibeta for screening. Footage is captured in appl pro res 720/24P...
